According to the prevailing opinion, the word “oregano” derives from the ancient Greek words “ὄρος”/óros/ (mountain) and “γάνος”/gános/ (brightness, joy) and refers to what brings joy and brightens the mountain. Oregano is a perennial herb with a particular aromatic scent, endemic mainly in the Mediterranean region, used since antiquity. Numerous recent scientific studies have demonstrated that oregano essential oil has strong antibiotic, antifungal and antioxidant properties.
Aetheleon’s careful choice of the oregano plant species, Origanum vulgare ssp. hirtum, endemic in Greece, was made with a view to creating a premium quality product, with unique antibiotic properties.
The farm and produce is certified organic by Biohellas and is supervised by researchers from the National Agricultural Research Foundation and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, within a continuous effort at quality improvement.
How to use:
Dilute a few drops to a carrier oil eg. olive oil/almond oil etc. to use on your skin or hair. Dilute in water or floral water (check the floral water of this distillation here) to use as a hair mist, face mist or room spray. Use also drops in water for a foot soak, to help against smelly feet.
